Apple iWatch could launch in September as it allegedly places orders for 65 million units!

There have been numerous rumors about Apple’s iWatch even though we are yet to see how the wearable device will look. But if an Economic Daily report (via Digitimes) is to be believed, we won’t have to wait that long as Apple is planning on unveiling its first wearable device in September and judging by the alleged order size, Apple is expecting it to be a runaway success.

The publication claims to have got its information from an alleged bill of materials, which claims that the iWatch will be unveiled in September. It further states that Apple has commissioned Quanta Computer to manufacture the device, Richtek Technology for supplying chips and TPK for the sapphire touch panels, while the processing chip manufacturing will be outsourced to Samsung. In total, Apple is said to be planning on shipping 65 million units this year.

While very little is known about the iWatch, some leaked iOS 8 details, specially the Healthbook app, indicate that the forthcoming device could turn out to be more of a fitness smartband than a smartwatch. A separate report by Barrons claims that Apple’s wearable device is likely to be the first to boast ultraviolet index sensors, which will measure the wearer’s UV exposure.
