Nokia Pro Camera app coming to Lumia 920, 925 and 928

Yesterday, when Nokia announced the 41-megapixel clad Lumia 1020, one of the biggest features of the device was the new Pro Camera app that allowed full manual control over the camera. In a blog post, Nokia has revealed that the Pro Camera app will also be coming soon to the Lumia 920 which is already available in India. Besides this the app will also come to the Lumia 925, which could be coming soon to India and the US only Lumia 928, which is an exclusive for Verizon.

When Nokia showcased the app yesterday, it wowed us as it flaunted an intuitive interface that was punctuated with radial controls for various camera settings like shutter speed, ISO, exposure, metering, white balance and what not. Impressive as this is, the main advantage of the new UI is that the user can see in real time what changes he/she is making to the camera settings, giving a better idea of how to tweak the settings. In a way, it also provides an initiation of sorts to handling advanced DSLR like camera settings.

The new camera app is being reserved for all the Lumia smartphones that have the PureView branding and Nokia says the app will be available after the Windows Phone Amber update.

While clearly, the Lumia 1020 now becomes the flag-bearer for camera phones, but Nokia’s Lumia 920 and Lumia 925 are no slouches. People have criticized the cameras on these phones for not being as adaptable as say an Android smartphone or even the iPhone which just shoots brilliant photos out of the box without the need of excessive options. This was an issue more related to the core Windows Phone camera app, but once these phones get the Nokia Pro Camera app we can expect even better pictures from these phones as well.
