With Nokia’s announcement for the its 41-megapixel Windows Phone only days away, we have seen multiple leaks, but now WPCentral has published what appears to be the latest press render of the super camera phone and has revealed some new specs along the way.
Firstly, the report squashes rumors about the Lumia 909 name and claims that was being considered earlier and Nokia had steeled on the Lumia 1020 name. This was also confirmed by Microsoft’s GM for Windows Phone Joe Belfiore’s Flickr account that revealed two images taken from a phone called the Lumia 1020.
Secondly, it has been revealed that the Lumia 1020 could be the first Windows Phone to come with 2GB of RAM. Apparently, the extra bit of RAM is there to accommodate the oversampling technique employed by the 41-megapixel camera sensor and handle the large image sizes produced by the phone.
The render shows that the camera will be supplemented by both an LED flash and a Xenon flash. This is something we have reported earlier. Additionally, the phone will indeed combine the 41-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS) that was first seen in the Lumia 920.
When in landscape, users will be able to click photos at 32-megapixels or 5-megapixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The 5-megapixel images will use oversampling that will involve dropping seven pixels into one creating a super pixel. This is also the technique that will allow lossless zoom.
The camera will also be able to shoot at 38-megapixels when in 4:3 mode. The report also confirms that the phone will only come with 32GB of onboard memory and there will be no microSD card slot, which is rather unfortunate. The camera sensor will have a f/2.2 aperture, which is rather wide and this will work in tandem with OIS.
The Nokia Pro Camera app will allow users to control settings like ISO, White Balance, Shutter Speed, Flash and manual focus. There will be a live mode of...
