Google Wants to Kill Windows Phone 8 YouTube App

The search giant asked Microsoft to kill its new YouTube application
for Windows Phone 8. Google is reported to send a cease-and-desist
letter to Microsoft earlier in May and ask the software giant to both
shut down the app at the Windows Phone Store and disable existing
copies by the end of the month.

The matter is that Microsoft’s application strips out adverts and
allows people to download content, directly violating YouTube’s terms
and conditions. The opportunities the app provides directly harm
Google’s content creators and obviously violate the company’s Terms of
Service. Google requested that Microsoft immediately withdraw its app
from the Windows Phone Store and disable existing downloads of the app
by the end of May.

Nevertheless, the software giant claimed that Google was simply
refusing to cooperate and allowed the company to develop an app on a
par with other platforms. Microsoft wanted to say that they needed
something better, but the search giant failed to provide the necessary
APIs. This is why Microsoft had to build its own app from scratch. At
the moment, it is unclear whether Microsoft will have to kill its app
or address the concerns raised by YouTube and re-launch it.
