Google reportedly working on a smartwatch, OUYA-like gaming console and the Nexus

Google is not only busy developing the next version of Android, known as 4.3 Key Lime Pie, but also a smartwatch and a gaming console similar to OUYA, WSJ reports. Additionally, the Internet search giant is also believed to be finally ready to unveil the Nexus Q.

The popularity of OUYA, which started shipping earlier this week, is said to be the inspiration behind Google’s plans to launch an Android-based gaming console of its own. That and Apple’s reported plans to add gaming services to its Apple TV is said to be a source of motivation. No hardware details of this rumored gaming console are currently available.

With wearable devices expected to become a fad in the near future, it is not surprising to see Google also dipping its feet into the pool. With Apple believed to be developing an iWatch, Foxconn having shown its iPhone-compatible smartwatch earlier today and Sony too unveiling its Android-based SmartWatch 2 SW2 this week, Google will have to face a lot of competition for its forthcoming smartwatch.

Finally, the Internet giant’s ill-fated Nexus Q is set to see the light of the morning sun. The spherical media-streaming device was hit hard by negative comments due to its high price and lack of ground-breaking features and was also named one of the Top 10 “fails” of 2012 by CNN, before being axed in October last year.

There’s currently no word on an exact date of unveiling, but the report does mention that Google maybe planning on unveiling one or all these devices sometime this fall.
